The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development's emphasis on leaving no one behind requires the disaggregation of data to understand whether the fruits of development are reaching the full spectrum of society, including the most vulnerable. National statistical systems face the challenge of producing data disaggregated by various characteristics of the population and by different geographic levels.
There are statistical methodologies that allow the integration of data sources to respond to the challenges presented by the need for more detailed data. Some examples include:
- the integration of income data from household surveys, tax records and national accounts, to produce complementary statistics on income inequality;
- the integration of geospatial and statistical data and information, through collaborative work between the National Geospatial Information Agencies and the National Statistics Offices, in accordance with the Global Statistical and Geospatial Framework;
- the use of small area estimation models to disaggregate household survey indicators using information from censuses, administrative records and satellite data.
This session will allow for a peer-to-peer exchange around the integration of various data sources in the context of the production of official statistics.
