Legal identity for all – including women, children, and other vulnerable groups – is critical for achieving the SDGs. Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) systems are a foundation for legal identity and ensuring that everyone is counted.

To advance learning and action on comprehensive and holistic CRVS and identity management systems, the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data collaborated with the Centre of Excellence for CRVS Systems at the International Development Research Centre to produce a Compendium of Good Practices in Linking Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) and Identity Management Systems featuring six country case studies.

The full compendium was launched at the Fifth Conference of African Ministers Responsible for Civil Registration (Lusaka, 14-18 October 2019). The synthesis of the six case studies was shared at a side event during the 74th Session of the UN General Assembly. If you missed the side event, watch it here.
