Priorities as a partner of the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data

Springer Nature’s SDG Programme seeks to generate collaboration on solutions to the world’s most pressing problems, by linking the high quality research and independent analysis published by Springer Nature to those policy and business leaders tasked with addressing them. We believe that research data should be easy to find and access, so that it can be used in other research programmes around the world and have been proactively developing services to help the research community share its data in reusable and accessible ways.

Access relevant research: Springer Nature has created 17 SDG ‘hubs’ - one for each of the SDGs. These hubs are a central part of Springer Nature’s broader SDG publishing programme, bringing together multidisciplinary peer-reviewed research content from across Springer Nature’s output of journals and books (including the Nature, Springer, BMC and Palgrave imprints), alongside supplementary insights, journalism and multimedia.

Since 2015, Springer Nature has published nearly 400,000 articles and chapters on SDG-related topics such as health, poverty, justice and biodiversity which have collectively been cited more than 3.5 million times.

The Nature Research Sustainability Community provides a forum for the sharing and discussion of ideas and opinions about sustainability. Through posts, discussion, image, and video, this space can be used by members to communicate with each other, and with editors, about various topics ranging from the science itself through to policy, society, and day-to-day life.

Scientific Data is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal for descriptions of scientifically valuable datasets and research that advances the sharing and reuse of scientific data. It welcomes submissions from a broad range of research disciplines, including descriptions of big or small datasets, from major consortiums to single research groups.

BMC Research Notes is an open access journal publishing peer-reviewed contributions from across all scientific and clinical disciplines, including intriguing initial observations, updates to previous work and established methods, valid negative results, and scientific data sets and descriptions.

Sustainable development will falter without data. Through partnerships and collaborations with the research, policy, and business communities we want to play our part in filling the data gaps around SDGs.
