Integrated Research on Disaster Risk (IRDR) is a decade-long research programme co-sponsored by the International Council for Science (ICSU), the International Social Science Council (ISSC), and the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR). It is a global, multi-disciplinary approach to dealing with the challenges brought by natural disasters, mitigating their impacts, and improving related policy-making mechanisms.
Core funding for IRDR is provided by the China Association for Science and Technology. IRDR International Programme Office is hosted by the Institute of Remote Sensing and Digital Earth (RADI) Chinese Academy of Sciences.
IRDR DATA Community of Practice
IRDR’s Disaster Loss Data (DATA) project provides information dissemination, networking, and collaboration forum for the growing network of stakeholders from different disciplines and sectors to study issues related to the collection, storage, and dissemination of disaster loss data.
Priorities as a partner of the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data
IRDR’s Disaster Loss Data (DATA) project is designed to support information dissemination, networking, and collaboration with a growing network of stakeholders from different disciplines and sectors to study issues related to the collection, storage, and dissemination of disaster loss data.
The DATA project:
- Aims to be a reference point for sharing DATA news, proposals, results, and ideas.
- Brings together loss data stakeholders and develops and utilizes synergies.
- Identifies the quality of existing data and what data are needed to improve disaster risk management.
- Develops recognized standards or protocols to reduce uncertainty in the data.
