Education Sub Saharan Africa (ESSA) brings together a network of students, educators, and decision-makers. Together, we use evidence to improve tertiary education in sub-Saharan Africa: equipping young people in sub-Saharan Africa with the skills for work.
Priorities as a partner of the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data
This work seeks to understand the ecosystem for knowledge production and use within tertiary education in sub-Saharan Africa. The ultimate impact of this work is to ensure that policy-makers, educators, learners, and investors in tertiary education have the data and evidence they need to make effective decisions. ESSA’s objective for the preliminary phase of this project, is to understand who needs knowledge and what for, and how do those investing in education (at all levels, from educators to bilateral donors) can be supported to put this knowledge into action.
The longer-term objectives for the project are to set up and curate a sustainable “go to place” or “go-to network” for impactful knowledge on improving tertiary education and job opportunities or young people (in digital and non-digital means). This knowledge will be used by the networks to influence and change policy and practice.
