Priorities as a partner of the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data

With the adoption of the Agenda 2030 -- which highlighted the importance of geospatial and earth observations data for monitoring progress of SDG indicators and targets -- we also realized the large gap that exists in data availability and access, as well as knowledge of its use and integration with the ongoing workflows.

To bridge this gap, Geospatial Media and Communications has created a platform called Geo4SDGs, which was launched in January 2018 with a conference that brings together the geospatial industry and development sector to understand how geospatial data and technologies can help in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

The focus is on data availability, analytics, platforms, ease of use for various purposes, legal and policy frameworks, as well as data infrastructures. The initiative will also include generating content and knowledge exchange platforms and social media outreach.
