In September 2022, the Data Values Project took a significant step by launching the Data Values Campaign – a global movement, uniting hundreds of individuals and organizations from over 70 countries, all dedicated to creating a fairer data future. The campaign aims to transform every aspect of data - from collection to funding, management, and use - ensuring equitable benefits for all. Central to this campaign is the Data Values Manifesto, encompassing five key principles: inclusion in data, accountable data governance, data literacy, transparent data sharing and use and more responsive and funded data systems. The manifesto serves as a call to action for everyone, everywhere to implement and push forward.
As we approach the one year anniversary of the campaign, we will spotlight the inspiring stories, ideas, progress, and accomplishments achieved collectively thus far. Additionally, we will engage with the Data Values community to gather feedback on how best to proceed with the campaign's next phase. Through this event, we will address any remaining questions and challenges and incorporate new ideas and opportunities through a consultative process involving a diverse, multi-stakeholder approach with an emphasis on hearing from often underrepresented and unheard voices.
Join us on October 3, 2023, at 9 am ET to commemorate year one of the campaign and to share your ideas and insights on what the next phase of the Data Values movement should confront.
