Data that is generated for development contains enormous potential to transform lives as long as it's freely available for use and re-use with protections in place for people’s privacy and rights. This project aims to improve the relevance and sustainability of data sharing initiatives in the development sector by providing the promoters and funders of existing data sharing initiatives with new evidence-based guidance on how to make them successful.

By generating and disseminating new knowledge and by offering experts a platform for exchanging experiences, this project intends to have a positive impact on how the development sector conceives and establishes data sharing initiatives, with the aim of increasing their effectiveness and sustainability, strengthening their synergies and driving better outcomes for platform users and targeted communities. This is a 12-month project that kicked off in January 2022 with funding from Google.org.
