We know attendees to the Digital Rights and Inclusion Forum (DRIF) 2024 will all support fostering rights and inclusion in the digital age, but how do you turn words of support into action and impact? Last year, the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data presented the Data Values Project at DRIF 2023, fostering connections with many partners who supported the aims of the Data Values Manifesto and a fairer data future — but embedding the principles in day-to-day work can be overwhelming, and even knowing where to start can feel impossible.

This highly interactive session will address this ‘words to action gap’ through the launch of the "Data Values Starter Pack," a practical guide providing steps to implement Data Values. This guide has been co-developed between the Global Partnership, CSO, and government partners to create an easy-to-follow process for implementing data values.

The session will be co-hosted by Code for Africa, a long-standing partner who is already living and data values through their commitment to the democratization of data skills and open data, amongst many other initiatives.

The session will include:

  • Short presentations from the Global Partnership and Code for Africa on how to implement Data Values in their work utilizing existing case studies (30 mins)
  • Smaller discussion groups for an interactive portion utilizing the Starter Pack to discuss how it could be used in their organizations (60 mins)

The session will skill participants with a tangible understanding of the Data Values Manifesto and inspire the work being done already by organizations such as Code for Africa, enabling them to return to their organizations ready to take action to embed data values.
